Sunday motivations: why you shouldn’t be afraid of criticism
Another week, another beautiful Sunday has rolled around. So, Darling Lovelies, grab a cuppa, put your feet up, and digest this week’s motivational quote to start your working week!
Criticism is a terrifying thing. It validates our worst beliefs about ourselves, it makes us feel small and weak, in some cases it helps us grow but hell, not the easy way! Nobody likes to be criticised.
However, if you’ve never been criticised, then you’re not sticking your neck out far enough. Nothing we do in life can please everyone. Not everybody is going to like pretty pastels and painting everything pink – not everyone is going to like my unusual brand of social activism, and I’ve faced my fair share of criticism in my time. But for every critic is someone who adores what I do, and they wouldn’t love it half as much if I tried to please everybody and kept my head down.
When you really try at something, really go for something, criticism is a natural part of the journey. Take it with dignity, digest it when you need to, discard it if it’s useless and keep going!
