How often do you stop and pat yourself on the back when you accomplish something? Not very often, I’ll wager. We tend to do the very British thing of underplaying our achievements, even to ourselves, and worrying that we’ll jinx a good thing if we celebrate it – or that we’ll be guilty of narcissism or resting on our laurels. Sometimes we even secretly feel that we’ve somehow cheated the system when something good happens, or that we don’t deserve it – I know I feel like that a lot (and I’ll write about this more later in the week).
I’m of the opinion that the fun part of achieving your goals is the journey – but then once we get to a milestone, then that deserves to be properly acknowledged. So every time you scale a new height in your work, your personal life or whatever you were trying to achieve, take some proper time to enjoy the view – it’s what you worked so hard for!
