Because sometimes it’s just nice to say “I love you”, we’ve put together five unique and adorable ways to make your other half feel appreciated! Enjoy!
Little letters of love by Ananya Cards
I discovered these gorgeous little letters of love by Ananya Cards when they were kindly provided for our Party at The Parlour gift bags! Since then I can’t get enough of them – they’re fantastic for leaving in lunch boxes or other conspicuous places for your loved one to find! Write your own note on the back or leave them plain (they speak for themselves) they come in packs of 12 little sweet whispers and are available for £9 through the Ananya Cards website.
Every now and then, I send John a little email with reasons I love him that week! It’s a nice surprise as it comes out of the blue and it’s great for both of us as it puts the focus on what we really appreciate about each other.
A love chalkboard
Having a little chalkboard around the house is an adorable way to say “I love you!” If you want to make your own, it’s as easy as a lick of paint, we’ll be putting up a tutorial later in the week.
Gifts and flowers, just because
Money can’t buy you love, but sometimes I see something that just has John written all over it and I can’t resist buying him a little gift. It shows him that he’s always on my mind and that things remind me of him, as well as giving him lovely little presents to treasure.
Keep the things that matter
Remember that episode of Friends where Ross gets mad at Rachel for exchanging a piece of jewellery he got her? The story is resolved when Rachel shows Ross her box full of memories – the movie stub from their first date and so on. I have a similar memory box with all the cards, letters, little gifts John has ever got me, mementos from our trips, tickets, brochures etc. I keep that stuff because to me it’s more precious than jewellery or money – it’s our relationship history. Every time I take things out and look at them I remember all of the incredible times we’ve had together.
When you’ve been together a long time, it’s easy to take the “I love yous” for granted – but when you think creatively, it reminds you of the meaning behind what you’re saying, and how lucky you are to have love in your life. So today, how are you going to let your loved one know what they mean to you?
