After we moved on from the capitalist hippie paradise that was Sedona, John and I reached one of the parts of the trip that I’d most been looking forward to.
I’d read all about the fabulous International Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque and its famous balloon glow. I decided that, while I was in town, I absolutely had to see it for myself. Never one to settle for ordinary acommodation, we stayed just a little out of town, at vintage-style trailer park, Enchanted Trails.
The trailers were decorated with original fifties fittings. I couldn’t resist taking a few sneaky snaps for your enjoyment.
After a quick nap, John and I headed to what would be one of the best and most memorable nights of our marriage so far, the beautiful Hot Air Balloon Fiesta.
As the sun went down, we witnessed the absolutely breathtaking balloon glow – hundreds of them all lit up against the setting sun – before a glorious fireworks display (and my discovery of funnel cake, which was just a giant fried doughnut).
I’ll let the images speak for themselves as there really are no words. Luckily I took pictures.
Next on our US road trip, we take a trip to Roswell, New Mexico, to solve the UFO mystery once and for all. See you there?
