Welcome to our brand new feature, vintage bridal style stealer! We take iconic bridal looks from our favourite vintage idols and show you where you can get their look (and how to bring it into the twenty first century)!
First on our list of stunning ladies we love is perhaps one of the most iconic brides of all time. Grace Kelly’s 1956 wedding to Prince Rainer III of Monaco was an internationally anticipated event. Designed by Helen Rose of MGM, her dress made history and still influences bridal fashion to this day. Even Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge found her bridal inspiration in this timeless look, with many commentators drawing similarities between the two royal gowns.

Steal her style
There are two vital components to the Grace Kelly bridal look. The dress and the veil. Her simple but classic make-up (highly defined eyebrows are essential) and scraped-back elegant chignon hair are easy looks for your hair and make-up artist to achieve but the ensemble of her beautiful Juliet Cap veil and lace-sleeved dress with a structured, sculpted bodice are harder to find.
Such a timeless gown is bound to inspire designers for generations to come, and there are many Grace Kelly-inspired dresses on the market, but if you’re looking to truly steal her style then here are some of my top finds which really evoke the essence of the Helen Rose design with each designer putting their own twist on the classic dress.
This look was created by designer Stewart Parvin and shot by Kip Meyer for Brides Magazine. Brides can arrange an appointment with Stewart Parvin to purchase this gown.
Grace from the Sassi Holford Couture collection is another beautiful tribute to Grace Kelly’s classic gown
Camerun by Rosa Clara is a more modern, romantic twist on the classic Helen Rose design, with a high neck instead of the buttons and v-neck shape. It perfectly captures the structured waist of Grace Kelly’s gown.
Ava by Charlotte Balbier adds a soft tulle train to the traditional gown design
For brides on a budget, the Cora Lace maxi dress from Coast is a more affordable £695
Grace Kelly’s gorgeous Juliet Cap veil has inspired many reproductions and tributes. The following designers have paid homage to Grace Kelly with these gorgeous veils that hold the whole look together, giving your bridal ensemble that Grace Kelly poise. On the day, Grace wore orange blossoms as part of her headpiece.
This creation, designed by Visionary Veils for Donna Crain is the perfect accessory for a Grace Kelly-inspired look
Gilded Shadows on Etsy has a range of Grace Kelly-inspired cap veils and ships to the UK – images by Michael Dunn
On her wedding day, Grace Kelly carried a pearl-encrusted prayer book. Unfortunately, it was one of a kind, but you can get the look by replacing the book with a clutch. Here are a couple of our favourite pearl-encrusted beauties.
