It’s coming up to Christmas – and one of my favourite wintry childhood stories was The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. I was delighted to receive this fabulous, fashion-forward photoshoot directed by Lauren Magovern, Director of Ladyamy Bespoke Wedding Designs and with one of my favourite wedding pals, Nikki of Knots and Kisses contributing amongst a highly talented team (please see the bottom of the post for a full list of credits). I’ll hand over to Lauren to tell you all about the concept behind this gorgeous set of images:
Wild Narnia meets secret garden shoot
A wedding planning and styling company based in the Cotswolds. Helping creative couples plan and style the perfect wedding for them. Bringing an essence of magic to their special day, ensuring it all runs smoothly and on budget.
My love of old classic novels, such as The Lion the witch and the wardrobe and The Secret Garden, which I have recently been reading to my children, my love of vintage prettiness and the rustic charm which fills the Cotswolds at this wintery time of year have all heavily inspired my styling and design for this creative and utterly gorgeous shoot..
Wild Narnia meets Secret Garden was born… It is a combination of my two favourite stories as I was growing up. I wanted to recreate some of the magic and charm which is created in these stories but through a styled shoot. There is something very magical and enchanting about these old tales, similar to a fairytale but much more enchanting, realistic and possible.
I wanted to bring some of my favourite wedding suppliers together, to create something special and dreamy, which would inspire any bride and groom getting married in the winter months.
Getting married through the winter can bring to light some of the problems we planners and stylists face. It is important to not only think about everything on your ‘wish list’ but to also consider lighting, as it begins to get darker a lot earlier, weather as it can be frosty / damp / icy and cold and also comfort- not only of yourself and your groom but all your guests (especially your nan ;))
This shoot, is not only incredibly beautiful and enchanting, but I have incorporated a few ideas for winter weddings, which help solve a few of the problem I have listed above.
Lanterns are a really great way of creating magical, soft romantic lighting, which is still very pretty for your pictures and will also not only stay lit, because the flames are covered but help guide your guests from one area to another at your venue, when it becomes darker and colder earlier in the day. Candles and logs are great rustic and cheap ideas for styling the perfect rustic winter wedding and fur shawls are great winter accessories, and extremely warm and cosy too.
I would like to say a huge thank you to all the suppliers involved, who have helped me to create this gorgeous winter styling shoot. For further Wedding planning and styling advice, please contact Lauren at Ladyamywedding@me.com
