A bright and quirky floral barn real wedding

I love it when couples send through real weddings full of character, charm and unique details. Liam and Lucy got married the week before John and I at  the Mansion Registry Office in Surrey and had their reception at the bride’s aunt and uncle’s barn – The Barn, Highworth Farm in Surrey, making it a true family affair!

Shot by Barney Warner, this lovely wedding, brimming with personality really made me smile. Here’s the lovely bride, Lucy, to tell you all about her big day:

“Liam and I met on the online dating website plenty offish.co.uk. We sent a couple of emails, went for dinner & drinks, the rest is history! When he proposed, he took me to Paris for the weekend, and half way up the Eiffel Tower he said ‘I have a present for you! Do you want it now?’ I said ‘yes’ and he said ‘ well, you have to promise to be my wife first!’ pulled out the ring, and cue lots of tears and giggles!”

“Vintage Tea Party & Cath Kidston were my themes and inspirations…. I basically am a vintage addict, love anything floral, pretty, sparkly, classic etc – and my hubby likes the vintage charm of it all. It wasn’t hard to style the wedding on it as I eat, sleep, breathe all this stuff! Cath Kidston was my most indispensable wedding supplier – we sourced all of our fabrics, table cloths, napkins and accessories from there. I planned the majority of the wedding myself, I ran ideas past friends, and my wedding invites I got my best friend and artist Carmi Latham (see the image below) to design as a wedding present.”

“The dressing of the barn was my favourite detail, it all came together so beautifully, really exceeded my expectations! However, on the day, we got stuck in terrible traffic on the way to the registry office and I was a few minutes late. When I finally arrived I was told my mum was stuck on M25 and I would have to get married without her if I wanted it to happen that day!!! The registry office waited 45 mins for her to arrive, and at 1pm said ‘sorry we can’t wait any more’ so I was JUST about to walk down the aisle without her when I heard this massive cheer behind the double doors in the registry office, and she had JUST arrived by the skin of her teeth, with panda eyes from all the tears & hysterics! Poor poor mum!”
