A fresh green outdoor, backyard, homespun DIY wedding

Today’s gorgeous real wedding comes from Minnesota in the United States! Submitted by Karen Feder Photography, it encapsulates everything I love about US wedding trends, from the vintage-inspired styling to the gorgeous DIY touches. I’m definitely stealing the “Something Blue cocktail” idea! Karen sent this beautiful story about the proposal and the wedding – I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did!

“Happy Birthday!” He said as she stepped in the car! ”Thanks, where are we going?” She replied with a kiss and a look of questioning. ”Surprise.” Michael replied slyly and they took off. After arriving to one of Lindsay’s favorite places in the Minnesota fall, the apple orchard, she gave him a hug and a big thank you! Even though the sky was overcast and looking like it might rain, she didn’t care. Being that it was a weeknight and that the weather was not so great, the orchard was theirs.

They strolled around the orchard talking about their day and reminiscing about their time together. Coming to the middle of a grove of trees, Michael looked at Lindsay, got down on one knee and asked if she would be his wife! With tears in her eyes and a gigantic smile on her face, she replied “YES!!” After some other talk, the wagon appeared and the two had their own private birthday/ engagement celebration around the orchard!

Lindsay’s wedding day was just as joyous! Perfect weather, perfect company and perfect day. A celebration planned in the private meadow of Michael’s parents was the perfect backdrop for the May wedding. So many DIY details made the day perfect ranging from the fun facts on the quaint town of Red Wing to the apple jelly that Lindsay and her mother made as favors for the guests to the doors that she made for the aisle entrance. The 9 nieces and nephews that roamed the meadow rung bells just before Lindsay walked down the aisle and as she and Michael were announced husband and wife. Their late night snack of sliders from White Castle (Michael’s favorite!) arrived in the middle of drinks and dancing and the couple ran through an array of sparklers as they left for the evening.
