The Designer Wedding Show – a review

So yesterday was pretty quiet on the blog. Mainly because I treated myself to a day out at the Designer Wedding Show. For those of you who’ve never been, it’s actually a really great one to go to, especially if you’re blown away by high-end designs and on-trend, unique products. You might even spot a celebrity or two.

My lovely friend, Emma from Emma Lucy Photography kindly agreed to be the Under the Vintage Veil photographer for the day, so I have some great snaps to share with you all. Here are a few highlights from the day.

Having arrived early and without breakfast, I was very kindly fed delicious cake samples by top luxury cake designers, GC Couture. Mmm… today I’m having cake withdrawal but it was so worth it! Imagine this sight, friendly smiling faces offering up cake worthy of celebrity birthday parties first thing in the morning (GC Couture made Cheryl Cole’s birthday cake). I also got to see their latest design, Isabella (see left-hand pic) swoon!

Having taking all the samples we could get away with without emptying GC Couture of their entire stock, Emma and I decided to have some down time at the Boothnation stand. Boothnation, for the uninitiated, supplies party photobooths that do, well, pretty much what they say on the tin. Except you can get them (and the pictures) in different styles to suit your event (including vintage). And there’s even a wind button. Tyra Banks would be proud. As you can see (bottom right) Emma and I became instant celebrities when our photo came up on Boothnation’s display! Clever! Check out the bottom pic – channeling our inner Zoolanders… (I’m on the left, Emma’s on the right).

We then stopped to swoon at By Appointment Only Design (look at all the pretty flowers!)

Picked up more cake samples at Dish

I was then thrilled to meet one of my favourite jewellery designers, Donna Crain, who I’ve had the pleasure of featuring on the blog in the past. Not only is Donna an absolute delight (I envy the brides that get to work with her) but her designs are just exquisite. I’ll let you guys judge for yourselves, but look! LOOK! Wow!

After trying on way too much Donna Crain jewellery (I was pretty much ready to make off with most of it, but managed to control myself) Emma and I headed over to Emmy Shoes where I got to see them up close. I quite embarrassingly squealed a few times and actually, I think I need a whole blog post just to talk about Emmy Shoes. So look out for that this week!! I was actually lost for words, they’re just so, so beautiful.

We checked out some of the cool, historical venues on offer by Historic Royal Palaces

But my obsession with glitz and glamour took a dangerous turn when I found Magpie Vintage. I tried on the most gorgeous pieces and spent a good five minutes staring at myself wearing them in the mirror. So lush! Emma had to pretty much tear me away (it was for my own good).

We stopped to say hello to Mandy at Mango Pie whose colourful stand was a real showstopper. Emma loved all the red (her favourite colour) and got snapping. Mango Pie had teamed up with Purple Grape Catering to make the cute cake favours in the pictures below.

Yummy make up at Bobbi Brown

We tasted some lovely samples from Rosalind Miller Cakes and look! Look how pretty… so many favourites I can’t choose one!

Sassi Holford. Do I need to say more?

How tempting does this look? Cosy heaven at the Raj Tent Club stand… Emma and I resisted the temptation to sit there and sip champagne for the rest of the day.

We couldn’t resist snapping this gorgeous table design at the One Whitehall Place stand

And last, but by no means least, we spent a good portion of the morning drooling over the fantastic gifts and styling accessories over on the Not on the High Street stand. I entered a competition to win £250 of goodies and was so overexcited I spelled John’s name wrong. Whoops! Oh well, I’m sure he’ll forgive me if we win! Anyway, behold the amazingness:

I was also thrilled to see Tash and Claudine at Moments Captured and stop for a chinwag at their lovely stand, as well as bumping into Anna from Anna and the Ring, Emma from Miss Bush Bridal, Alexandria from Postscript Events, Charlotte from Charlotte Bridal and Emma, AKA The Wedding Reporter.

Are you planning to head to the Designer Wedding Show? Who are you looking forward to seeing? Have you already been? I’d love to hear from you. And an extra special thank you to Emma for these gorgeous photos and getting them to me so fast. What a bloomin’ ace photographer eh?
