A vintage railway engagement inspiration shoot

A lot of brides ask me what the point is of an engagement shoot. Most of them are uncomfortable with the idea of corny, posed photos of them looking loved up. I completely understand that – I can be a bit camera shy. But I also think the engagement shoot is a great opportunity to get creative, show your personalities and have a record of your engagement. As they say, something to show the grandkids. So I was really happy when David from Modern Vintage Weddings sent me this styled inspiration love shoot. I hope it gives you guys some great ideas! Here’s David to tell you all about it:

“I first visited The Watercress Line near Alton, Hampshire last summer, for their annual War On The Line event, dressing up as a Spiv (The RAF pilots outfit had sadly been hired). What struck me was the detail that had gone into recreating a full working steam line, and the dedication of the staff. It seemed like the perfect place to come back and do a vintage engagement style shoot, the idea being something along the lines of a couple eloping from a grand ball nearby. I love the style of the 1940’s. It’s so beautifully honest. I hope I did justice to the location of the shoot.”
